DARE TO COOK
We finally succeed and designed a new title for our game: DARE TO COOK

Marketing Strategies:
Give-aways for a meal in a restaurant or for cola and hamburgers will be added to the game.
There will be also an online cooking contest, the 100 best recipes will get kitchen equipments and coupons. The winner could go on a holiday in an expensive hotel in France and eat in restaurants that are distinguished by Michelin for free for instance. All recipes will be collected and every year an extra Wii Cookbook will be released.
We provide an online store where you can buy different merchandising products like special Wii Aprons, Wii Cooking Hats and a extraordinary Wii-Controller that looks like a cooking spoon

game engine & budget
We deciced to choose TORQUE for Wii, because it is software-compatible to the Nintendo Wii. We also would like to design a 3D-graphics game with a multiplayer option. The licence costs about between 2500$ and 10000$.

We would also need further software packages:
-Modeling Tool: Cinema 4D, 1300€
-Graphics Packages/Web Tools/Programming Suites: Creative Suite 3, 1799$
-Sound/Music Software: Reason, 400€

We also have to hire a team of good programmers and designers. In our opinion we need about ten people, maybe one expert per field of work and some students.

screen layouts #2
The Loading Screen includes the game logo and the text information "game is loading".

Before the main game starts there will be an overview screen of the city (a city-map), where you can see which restaurants you can sub-rent.

Main Game Interface: In the kitchen there are interactive elements like the radio where the user can turn on/off music or adjust the volume. Another element is the cooking book where the user can save or search for recipes. The Exit Button at the top of the door leads the user to the Settings (Save Game, Load Game, Setup, Help, Exit). There also will be a scale where you can see how satisfied your customers are and a refridgerator to see the inventory of your ingredients.

Character Setup: The face of the character will be taken out of the Wii character that every Wii user creates before he starts playing any game on the Wii. In our game you can choose between different styles of cooks - a fat cook, a slim cook, a tiny cook and so on. Examples of this characters will be created until next lesson.

The Help Screen is included in the the Settings menue. There you can find how the Wii control works and the interactive elements in the kitchen are working.

The Credit Screen will be at the end of the Game. It includes group name, title and company logo. There will also be a short and funny story about the production of the game.

first screens
Last lesson we focused on the content of our screens.

If you press the break button within the game, you'll get to a break menu. There you can save or load a game, alter settings, use the help function or quit the game.

During the next lesson, we will focus more on our screen design!

just thinking
During the last lecture, we thought about some special features of our game. There will be a single player mode, where you can explore a complex storyline, and a two player mode, where you are able to challenge each other. Food Fight or Fast Cooking are only two of various competitions.
The Wii offers many possibilities for creating funny games that strain body and mind. You can learn many interesting things about nourishments, spices, recipes and cooking while move your body. In addition to that there is also a virtual Cookbook that saves your recipes. You will be able to print them by use of the wi-fi connection of the Nintendo Wii!

gender neutral game design
Adventure, Role Play and Simulation are gender neutral game genres.
Our game fits into this genres and try to make it gender and age neutral. But is cooking really a gender neutral topic?
We will collect some statements of people of varying age and gender concerning this question. This will help us to develop an unisex game!

what is our game?
It is a simulation/roleplay of cooking and business. You will improve your cookery, your business acumen, your knowledge about nourishments and you will be able to use this abilities in real life.

The game will be developed for Nintendo Wii, because with its controller you could brandish wooden spoons, knead batter, cut fruits and vegetables and much more. You are able to take a photo of yourself and the Wii will convert it into an inimitable 3D-character! The point of difference? Everybody will be able to play such a game, children who like to play with food, fathers who like to improver their cooking abilities, women who like to start a business career, elders who like the simple control system.

first game concept
During the last lesson, we thought about our game concept.

Working Title: The Art of Cookery

Platform: Nintendo Wii
Genre: Simulation, Strategy, Roleplay
Target Audience: All ages

General idea

The general idea is to become chef de cuisine of a gourmet restaurant.
At the beginning you have to make simple meals like hotdogs and as time goes by you will improve your art of cooking and your reputation. You are able to make own decisions, it's up to you whether you will better yourself and open up your own restaurant or whether you will fall down and have to start again at the beginning.

We chose the logotype that is placed at the left hand side second from bottom, because it is dynamic, simple, fresh and reminds of somebody who plays ball.

We decided to name our virtual company FANCY GAMES, because we will produce computer games for children. Our games will appeal to childrens vivid imagination.
